A Call For Watchfulness And Holy Morals
Introduction
The homosexual movement today is alarming. It is described by the apostle Paul in
Rom.1:21f as a moral issue at the lower depths of moral depravity. He describes how
the process of immorality starts at the level of unthankfulness and failure to glorify
God, and then it takes us further and further into the distance from God's Holy nature.
God gives them over to a "debased mind". There are more sins than homosexuality
mentioned in the text, and we must not overlook these things. But, the added concern
that we have about the modern homosexual movement is the fact that they have growing
ORGANIZATION and political clout. The present administration did more to promote the
homosexual interests than any other administration in the history of this country.
They have even duped a lot of religious people into thinking that this was "good".
The sins of adultery and theft do not have organization and open appeals for public
acceptance. That is why the homosexual movement is so alarming. They have organized
and pumped money into various organizations that can give them an equal right with race
and gender. They want to force our laws to reflect "sexual orientation" as an equal
thing to race, creed, and gender. The power of this movement is reflected in a recent
article in AFA (American Family Association) magazine about the political pressures
experienced in a Massachusetts High School . Teachers are pressured to teach, not only
toleration for, but the acceptability of the homosexual lifestyle. It will only be a
matter of time before we are experiencing the same here. Some thoughts about us:
Body
I. ARE YOU AS MOTIVATED TO ADVANCE THE CAUSE OF CHRIST AS THEY ARE
TO ADVANCE THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY FOR SEXUAL PERVERSITY?
A. They attend meetings and work for their cause with a zeal that sometimes put some
of us to shame.
B. Do you attend the meetings, classes, and work for the cause of Christ in every way
you can?
C. They are deeply united by their common faith and desire.
D. Do you feel that the cause of Christ is better grounds for your faith and your desires?
Does it give you commonality with Christians?
E. Are you interested in promoting righteousness as they are in promoting evil?
F. Our faith must be a motivating, driving conviction.
II. IS OURS A " FORM OF GODLINESS" WITH NO REAL "POWER"? - 1 Tim.3:1-5
A. We should be a powerful influence in our various fields of individual associations at
work, school, and public involvement of various sorts because of personal conviction
and enlightenment within.
B. We should be powerful because of what is working "mightily" within us.
1 Thess .2:13 -Does it work "mightily" within you?
C. There should be a power within us that moves us to do the three things Paul instructs
in Eph. 5:8-16:
1. Walk as children of light. v.8 Find out what pleases God, and have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness.
2. Expose Them. v.11
a. We cannot keep quiet and let the forces of darkness work on our children' s minds
unchallenged.
b. They have TV, internet media, and power in the public education system, and in
government.
c. AFA lists that "adult" (porno) sites outnumber religious sites three to one.
d. "For every web-site promoting family values, there are a startling 246 homosexual
sites."
e. Those figures are staggering. We must rally to Christ and up our efforts to get the
gospel out and into the flow of communications.
3. Awake, you who sleep. v.14 The days are evil and time is running out.
Conclusion:
We must not play church on Sunday, but kindle a passionate, burning faith, zeal and love for
Christ that keeps us hungering for righteousness. Early Christians sometimes died for their
faith. They were a people whose influence was felt. We must make sure that we are at least
living for our faith in the truth of the gospel. Do you love the Lord and His cause?
